im a total newbie at this. i know pretty much nothing.
i do have the latest version of ubuntu (8.10) on a live CD
i have been able to boot from it by holding "c" while powering on
i wanted to have it on a VM (tried VM-ware fusion, and Parallels) i installed successfully on both but my mac OS X was using the graphic cards, etc. so ubuntu was sluggish. i deleted my virtual machines. i want to partition my HD so i can just choose what OS to boot to while starting up.

note: while booting from the live disk (holding "c") i used the "try ubuntu without any change to your machine" feature, ubuntu was flawless except i had to use and ethernet cord for internet. there has to be a way so my my wireless work!](*,)

help would be greatly appreciateded..
