8.04 wired connection not working

Hi
I have just installed 8.04 but for networking i get "no networking devices found" and when i do manual config in network manager it only shows me point to point connection. No wired connection is visible there. any help?

Are you connected through NIC?
If yes, i have the same problem, the internet works though.
