Any plans for updating the files in the Example folder? The attached is from the 64-bit version of Intrepid, and shows "Gaim" instant messenger.....hasn't it been "pidgin" for a couple of releases now?

I haven't looked at it in a long, long time. I forget what is there. I think that they need to make it more interesting and visible.

I noticed they removed Nelson Mandela-movie in Intrepid and replaced him with some kind of "animated" short movie, I don't really understand how that reasoning went..

I saw a thread before Intrepid's release asking for new content. If they are going to keep it then it really could do with being updated before Jaunty. Either way it wouldn't bother me.

the examples folder is something that would never be missed if it disapeared.

Even by new users?

a new user would not know it had ever been there and therefore could not "miss" it . The actual question implied by my comment is , does it serve enough of a useful function to justify the space it takes up ?

Kill the folder
OR
Ask if you want examples to be installed when installing so it can be optional
Do the files get refreshed with major updates? If that is the case, if the folder is gone, the examples shouldn't get created going forward.

Ahaa, I see.
They got two submissions. The first one is a video made with whiteboardpen. The other one is not even a movie, its a picture slideshow.
I can't blame them since sadly there aren't any good videoeditors for Linux today. The first submitter even used Wine for a windowsprogram he needed to make his animation. I think that speaks for itself.
While I think the first is better than the second I still think Mandela is better. Way better.
If there aren't any submissions which is better it makes no sense changing.
Ah well. I think I'll join in with the rest instead and question the whole Examplesfolder-idea
