View Full Version : [ubuntu] Macbook as server - how to disable screen/backlight

Hi - I want to run a Macbook 2,1 as a headless server accessed using X over a lan. I've installed 8.10 and disabled gdm so X does not start up, but in this mode I don't see how to turn off the display & backlight.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

[I can run X and then the displays blanks with the lid shut, but this means its running more processes than I need as a headless server, so wanted to just run in text mode on the console.]

Thanks in advance.
