I'm writing this because Ubuntu's forum search engine is quite limited in comparison to Google's search engine. Also, when looking for a solution for a specific problem one of the most frequent comments/critiques is “Have you/You should do a Google search before starting a thread on the forum.”
1)In any Google search location, enter “site:ubuntuforums.org SEARCH TERMINOLOGY” (without the quotation marks.) This is where “site:ubuntuforums.org” limits the search to the ubuntu forum. “SEARCH TERMINOLOGY” is where you enter your search terms (for example: Sprint wireless). In this example, you would be searching for occurrences of “wireless” and occurrences of “Sprint”. Note that this will return “wireless” only as well as “Sprint” only results. To search for both “Sprint” and “wireless” as a phrase, use “Sprint wireless” in quotations; this returns results for the phrase rather than either of the words. Note that Ubuntu's forum search engine is unable to search for phrases (as far as I've been able to discover) which is why you want to use Google's search engine.
2)http://crunchbang.org/ubuntu-search-engine/ provides a search engine specifically for Ubuntu-related topics; I just discovered it as I was writing this!
Happy searching! Feel free to add your favorite Forum exploration techniques!
