Just installed Edgy onto an iMac 266 Mhz 256ram (yes - it's old!)
Surfing most sites works great except where a Flash player is needed. Also can't view Youtube videos.

Is anyone running this configuration? Am I trying to do the impossible with an old machine?

In edgy definitely not. You need to update to hardy or interpread. Also edgy is no longer supported which would make using it even harder. In hardy and interpread you can try gnash. Gnash is like adobe flash but is buggy. There is no version of adobe flash for powerpc. Your first step would be to get edgy upgraded to a supported version.
