I have a 10 year old Dell Poweredge server that i got from my school and i am having issues trying to install ubuntu (8.10 desktop version) on it. It has two hard drives, each is a little over 4 gigs. Both are empty. Ubuntu recognises both hds but the guided installs only want to use one. I want to use both hds, but the only way to do this is by manual partitioning. I need somebody to walk me through this step by step. I need to know what kinds of partitions i need to add and where.

STATS:
Dell PowerEdge 1300 Server
Intel Pentium II 400Mhz
1 gig RAM
about 4mb video memory.
2 ~4gig Hard drives
CD-ROM drive
3.5" Floppy Drive

Why not use one for / and the second one for /home?
