I don't know why this isn't working anymore, but originally I had remote desktop setup on my ubuntu server (its headless) so that I could vnc into it from one of my macs and admin anything under gnome. I have ssh as well, but vnc is just easier for me. However now when I try to connect, I can't get anything. I had a vnc://ip link saved in my firefox bookmarks and I would just open that, also I have netatalk and avahi on my server, so I get a "user's remote desktop connection" icon in my shared portion of the leopard finder sidebar. Does anyone know the specific settings to use in ubuntu to allow a leopard machine to connect to it, or (even better) a replacement to the packaged vnc server that is a bit more full functioned (the frame rate was pretty terrible even over 1000base ethernet and 802.11n).
I even tried apple's remote desktop 3.2 (i think it was 3.2) to try and connect and I couldn't get anything.
So does anyone know how to either remove&replace the ubuntu vnc server or get it to work with leopard?
