View Full Version : [ubuntu] 8.10 "forgets" wired network settings

Hi all,

I have a persistent obnoxious problem in that 8.10 doesn't keep my wired network settings. My IPv4 settings require a manual configuration, but after each restart, it reverts to "Automatic (DHCP)", so I always have to enter the IP details again.

And to make things worse, sometimes the "netmask" changes itself from "255.255.255.0" to "24" immediately after I enter the value.

I am on a Sony Vaio FE21M laptop. Thanks for any help!

The 24 is the CIDR representation for 255.255.255.0. I'll dig up some links about the NM bug.
Here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=975658) is one.
