I think there is an easy fix to this but I don't know how to do it.

I just upgraded to Hardy 8.04 I went to check my email in evolution and I was surprised by the message that popped up.

"Enter Password for Default Keyring to Unlock
the application (evolution) (/usr/bin/evolution) wants to access the default keyring but it is locked"

I can then put in my password and it works. My question is, is there a way to be done with this once and for all I don't really want to type my password when i check my email.

I figured it would be something under the system administration authorizations area but I can't figure out what that is all about.

If a kind person has a second to explain this to me and how i can change it i would be grateful.

Cheers.

I don't think there is a Gnome seahorse plugin for Evolution yet, though it was a google summer of code 2008 project (http://code.google.com/soc/2008/gnome/appinfo.html?csaid=587CF155A95399BE). So I think you are stuck with the extra password for now. Maybe this will be improved along the lines you want in 2009?

Thx, Mate I appreciate the feed back. I'm sorry I don't want to call my self a poser but I'm the only one I know with Linux and it's kind of hard to figure things out on my own, Thank goodness for these forums.

The password thing is not a huge deal to me I don't want to come across as a complainer at all I was just curious if there was a work around if not no big deal :)

Cheers

I was just coming to post this same question! (Which I actually did a number of months ago without resolve.) Even though you've marked your issue as solved, I wanted to add something. I'm new to Linux too (as of May of this year) and after getting everything set up and so forth, Evolution started up just fine everytime without the need of a password. Weeks went by with it working flawlessly until one day I received notification of an update (or multiple updates). So, leaving Evolution open, I updated my system. After updating, a restart was required. And after restarting, BAM! I was delt the message you were given. It only happens once during your system's on time, but it's frustrating all the same - as it worked fine before in logging in automatically. I've tried setting up an keyring code for it, but I'm not that technical and gave up as I knew not what I was doing. To make a long story short (too late, I know), Evolution can start up automically in 8.04 without the need of a password. I just don't know what happened to my system that has made it not work. If anyone knows of a solution, please let us know. Thanks!

Best solution until evolution gets it's sh** together is to use thunderbird or some other email client. Otherwise you will just have to deal with it for now.:???:
