Beginner setup php to run with apache

hello,

i am beginner at apache and php and i want to test my pages in php, but when i click on my php file in /var/www directory it opens dialog to open or save file, i found on internet some things to setup i've tried they but it still doesn't function. what i have to setup?Thanks for help.

you should access your pages through a browser (FireFox).

supposing your Apache and PHP configuration are ok, you should be able to access your pages at http://localhost/

... but for a beginner, you might start by using Xampp.
It is much easier to set up...
