Hi

I have downloaded imagemagick using synaptic package manager but I can't open the programme.
I have tried typing imagemagick in a terminal but no success.
Daft question, but how do I open it?
I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 on a dell vostro
Thanks in advance

Imagemagick is a commandline only program, so just typing imagemagick into the terminal will do nothing.

Try

man imagemagick

or begin reading about it on the website (http://www.imagemagick.org/script/index.php).

It's a terminal app, so you should be able to use it from the terminal.

However, there's a nice plugin for Nautilus that uses imagemagick, it's called nautilus-image-converter and allows you to resize and rotate images from a right-click. Much easier.

Nice, didn't know about that.

if you want a good quality Graphics editor - you can't go wrong with GIMP - it is an excellent example of open source software - simple to use, understandable User Interface and does exactly what you expect.

Yeah, there's a few good little plugins for Nautilus in the repos. I like that one, nautilus-open-terminal and nautilus-gksu.
