I just downloaded Audacity and have been trying to figure out how to record sounds from my soundcard. I've looked on the internet for some tutorials and it seems that I am suppose to go to 'edit' and then 'preferences' from the preferences menus I'm suppose to select 'import/export'. Next, I am to download the lame mp3 library. However, when I select the 'download' option it does nothing (I can click it, but it doesn't start a download - it does absolutely nothing). I am having this problem in cairo-dock (the inability to select certain functions while using Intrepid Ibex). Does anybody else have this problem? Is it a problem with Ubuntu 8.10 or a problem with Audacity, or is it simply pilot error?

Thanks a ton,

Rich
