Howdy! So what game that works on ubuntu (without wine of course) is your favorite?
Well mine has to be "TeeWorlds". I've been addicted to that game for the longest time, =D

Nexuiz actually runs better on my Ubuntu Laptop than it did on my Mac Pro, which really suprised me.

You didn't specify free games, so this is my recommendation:
Enemy Territory: Quake Wars

Dear mods, I thought it over and I belive that this thread would be better here then in the games and leisure forum. Please keep it here unless you really want to move it.
It's really best in the Gaming area. Not just because I am an obsessive-compulsive organizer granted with phenomenal cosmic powers, but because you'll get a better range of better-informed opinions here. :KS

My favorite Ubuntu games are Solar Wolf, OpenArena, and Marathon AlephOne. They have Linux versions in addition to Windows and Mac, so they don't need Wine to play. 8)

Best game that's compatible without wine? It has got to be Savage 2 (http://savage2.s2games.com/main.php) then, as you can go fullscreen AND alt+tab out of it. Even open-source games can't do that ;)

I have a tough time deciding whether is should be called TeeWorlds or WhoHasTheBestPing.
Still very good though.
My favourite must be UrbanTerror, just have to fix a small crashing problem.

Excellent horror games.

Typhoon 2001 (http://typhoon.kuto.de/) is my favourite Linux game so far. Bloody fantastic. Classic gameplay, tremendous graphics, amazing music. Everyone should play it. After that, I quite like SuperTux 2, Secret Maryo Chronicles, FooBilliard and Chromium, with the occasional trip around Neverball/putt.
Loads to play on Linux. :)

It all depends on what type of game you want to play.
Neverwinter Nights (role playing) continues to amaze me (I just started the whole persistent world thing which makes it into an MMO).
Frets on Fire is a great rhythm game (like guitar hero). The base game is nothing special, but some of the mods are just incredible.
Quake Wars is a great battlefield type online shooter
Doom3 is a great single player shooter.
There are loads of other games, free and non free available, but these are the games I usually play.

Beyond the Red Line is a stand-alone total conversion for the award-winning Freespace 2 released by Volition and Interplay for the PC. It is based on the popular new tv-show Battlestar Galactica. No, not the one from the 70s.

Battle for Wesnoth and Wormux are currently my two favorite native games. When I'm in the mood for FPS's I usually play world of padman and BZflag. Quakewars is also really good though I uninstalled the trial some time back.
