Heya everyone!
Information:
I am Mesqueeb, a young lad who is currently living as an exchange student in Japan. Here I bought a mini laptop! The HP2133.
It's keyboard is all in QUERTY + Japanese below it, and it has buttons at the side to change from English to Japanese.
A picture taken by me. (http://lh3.ggpht.com/_fcWaj1l-Y3c/SQ8G1DQ32jI/AAAAAAAAB0k/NUhWMq9iHTQ/IMG_4922.JPG)
It came with Windows Vista. What the japanese buttons at the side do is things like changing the configuration in the windows's language bar, so like I said before Eng->Jap, and the other way around.
The reason why I am switching to Ubuntu:
My computer runs very slow when I have multiple programs open, and for example when I need to load a lot of internet pages right behind each other it gets really slow, and when I have music, messenger, firefox, and some more programs open at once it also goes too slow. I admit that the computer itself might be not that good BUT won't it run a bit faster with Ubuntu instead of Vista?
The Questions:
-Will it help to switch to Ubuntu?
-Will English Ubuntu run properly on my Japanese Laptop? HP2133. And will the scroll function of the mousepad work?
Lastly, What I find very important since I change a lot between Japanese and English: Will the buttons to change from English to Japanese still work? For example when I am writing a document, and I am combining and switching all the time, will the buttons work, or will I have to change it by doing things with the mouse?
When I read this (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=163327) thread, I think it will work, but you can never be too sure, so I am asking again.
Thanks everyone for all your help! I am very greatful!
