The Story:
I've been working with Ubuntu Studio for about 6 months and I've decided to start running it on my church's sound computer. We are a smaller church so I'm very limited on equipment.

The Computer:
Intel Celeron 2.5Ghz
512 RAM
80GB Hard Drive (35GB Ubuntu/5GB SWAP/40GB Winxp
Aopen Cobra AW-850 5.1 w/ Coaxial in/out Fiber in/out (Ubuntu and Win says its a Coaxial C-Media Electronics Inc CM8738 Driver)
And some crappy Intel onboard sound (deactivated)

The Idea:
To use the computer for both recording and audio processing for the mains

If it can be achieved this is how it will work

FRONT LINE OUT to the Mixer's LINE IN
Mixer's LINE OUT to MIC IN
This will alow you to playback through the mixer and record whats being heard on the mixer

REAR LINE OUT to the Mixer's MAIN INSERT IN
Mixer's MAIN INSERT OUT to LINE IN (or AUX IN)
If you don't know what the insert is, it's like interrupting the signal in between the mixer and the amp so you can add in effects before the amp (compression, reverb, etc.)

Checkout the attached scematic

The Problem:
Right now I'm using JACK control and right now I can only record using the MIC IN and play out the FRONT LINE OUT. There is a signal on the REAR LINE OUT but it's the same as on the FRONT LINE OUT. So I'm only getting 2 Channels in and 2 Channels out where I'm wanting 4 in 4 out.

Now I know I might not beable to pull that off with this soundcard and if i can't can you suggest one to replace it (keeping in mind I'm going to have to pay for it. so please keep it cheap)

Thanks!
Noah

I have had much success with the Delta cards from M-Audio. Here's the 4/4 version of the card I use (http://www.zzounds.com/item--THKMIMD442). Each channel works independently, so you won't have the same problem with it. Unfortunately, I wouldn't know what to do with the Intel sound. You have it wired just the same as I would.
