Hi!

There needs to be some sort of modification done to the eject buttons in the nautilus window.

Right now, a new user might (read might as probably will) click it and inadvertently eject a mounted hard drive.

This is fine behavior for USB/firewire connected drives, but not for IDE or SATA connected ones.

Maybe a password lock with a bit of text to inform the user of what will take place? Even a continue/cancel dialog would be helpful!

i'va got a different idea for the same subject: it would be better to have a hover effect when you put your mouse over the eject icon, otherwise users can't know it is actually pushable.

plus, the icon may be grayed if the device is busy and can't be unmounted.

Removable media (CD/DVD/USB-HDD/USB-Pen/etc.) should stay removable. The thing is, that everything gets mounted at /media - even the partitions of my installed hard drives. Maybe the user should tell the installer (or later via an admin-app) which drives are non-removable so they can be mounted at /mnt and not show the eject button at all.

I think the button itself is intuitive enough - adding a popup shouldn't hurt, though.

Or being able to rightclick the drive in the placesmenu on the top, that way you dont have to open a nautiluswindow

Or being able to rightclick the drive in the placesmenu on the top, that way you dont have to open a nautiluswindow+1 to that.
