I wasn't quite sure about installing Ubuntu onto my reliable Windows machine a few months ago. But that was before a power surge fried my computer and I had to buy a new CPU. Fortunately my hard drive was saved, and I decided to make the bold step and install Ubuntu. I was pretty scared that I'd lose all of my Windows data, but I didn't. I installed GRUB to allow the dual boot (because my wife prefers Windows) and I can visit the land of Linux every day. I even retrieved an old Pentium II laptop and installed Ubuntu as the LONE operating system. Sure, I had to learn how to configure things, and that took time, a few reinstalls, reading the Ubuntu Forums for advice...but it's all worth it. Now I have been using Linux for almost a week and looking forward to learning more and more thanks to the great people here.
I have crossed over from Windows, and I like it!
