Like to code? Like linux? An artist? This is for you!
At RelaxOS we are a group of Linux fans and programmers who have a mission: to design and create the most user-friendly and functional operating system. What this means is we plan to redesign many aspects of a common Linux operating system.
RelaxOS is sponsored by MicroGeeks Design, a startup company that plans to sell computers pre-installed with Linux. They believe strongly in the power of the Linux community. They have set up this website so that developers, artists, users, and more can create, use, and contribute to RelaxOS.
If you are interested in helping, there are a number of things you can do. First, you should register to the forums if you haven't already. Next, if you are interested in coding for the project, you should PM me explaining your skills and why you wish to help. If you're an artist, you can participate in our logo design contest. Finally, if you are a user, you can wait to test out software and eventually the betas of our distribution.

Yes, that's cheesy. But if you'd like to help, we'd sure enjoy having you!
Languages we're looking for:
Python
Ruby
C
C++
C#
Any other languages are welcome as well! So don't think we just want these, the more the merrier!
Also, we'd like to stress that we have no desire to take away from any other distribution out there, they all contribute, we take the best ideas and do what we think is best with it. We plan to give back to the Ubuntu and Linux Mint communities.
Thanks,
Thomas

So is there any existing information about your new operating system, like about:
1) Will it be based on existing distros (Debian,Slackware,Gentoo or anything else) or just built from scratch.
2) Will it be open-source and distributed freely or just like other big companies asking for donations and searching for any other profitable opportunities before allowing users to download it.
It seems like there's only one registered person on your forum. OOUUch! ! !
Hope that you have more than one developper on it else it will be a very tough work.
PS: It will surely be usable on old systems, I guess http://ubuntuforums.org/images/icons/icon7.gif

1. It's likely going to be Ubuntu, but we have investigated putting it on a from scratch project.
We have a package manager, Sain, so It's not that bad to do it from scratch.
2.It will be fully opensource, under copyleft licenses(CPL, AGPL, etc.).
Haha, yes we have 4 developers at the moment.
About the forums, let me talk to the forum admin to open up some of the needed forums for developement.
Even though I'm coding for it, I'm User Interaction Manager, basically a community manager.

Heya, I'm XVedejas, and I am in charge of design at RelaxOS. Just wanted to stop in and say it's great to see someone interested in our efforts.
Aside from me, the other two on our development team are Nomad and Aurora. They are the founders of Microgeeks Design, a start-up web design company. As Thomas has already said, they eventually plan to also sell computers pre-installed with a custom Linux Distribution that they can manage, but still work with the community. Things are barely just starting right now, and our main objective for the time being is to get developers to create applications and work on the Distribution.
So again, to anyone who is interested, we'd like it if you'd just register on our forums. From there you can post your questions or PM me if you want.
Cheers,
X Vedejas

I had a thorough look at your wiki, forums and site and I think that (without any offense at all) you will fail. For a team this size with no kind of dedicated financial backup and a goal as general as yours, I don't think you will succeede Ubuntu. You would be much better off just improving the software that you see unfit for users in its current form than building a new system.
If you are determined to build your own distro, you should use LFS for the learning experience and make give it a more specific goal.
If you really are serious about RelaxOS, next time you make it public you should already have everything up and running properly with a well written wiki, functioning and informational webpage, SVN/Git repo, etc...
Currently, to me it looks like another of "those" distros that will never even make the first test release.
I'm sorry if this sounds too harsh but in the end, rethinking your goals, capabilities and possibilites might save you a lot of wasted time.

Mainly we were looking for developers and testers. And the site is receiving slow, but major updates.

Well, I am in the progress of learning python, but right now I don't have enough skills to help make an OS. So far I have only learned the basics like tuples, lists, dictoniaries, functions, objects, inheritance etc. but I am only just starting on the GUI chapter in this book.
Also, I am planning on making my first serious project a fighting game, like mortal kombat and the like
I can help you guys test software when you have an alpha/beta release, tough
