I'm asking this out of complete sincerity, as i don't want to step out of line.
I read the forum useage and it doesn't address this as completely as I'd like:
If experienced people give advise or tell you to do "step one" and you do it, and post results, how long is appropriate for (acknowledged free support)return advise on the next sequential step?
also: if it's been a (few days/week/weeks)is it ok to sent a short private message once someone's started advice/steps, to let the advisers know you're following their lead(s)? sometimes it can be a couple of days myself to get back to doing what's been recommended, and they have probably more sigificant lives than I, etc..

I recognize that being a volunteer is often thankless(been there done that/still do that) in other realms of my own experience and that other's time is valuable.
Please advise "next steps" protocol with taking advise and seeking sequential instructions?

Thank you,
A.C.

Hi and I would not send a pm but bump your thread once a day. If the poster does not respond others may. :)

As an absolute beginner, I believe I struggled with just what you're talking about. (Feel free to check my threads.) It took some time for me to realize the difference between back-and-forth, which is allowed as you solve your problem, and bumping your post--which is just "hitting" it yourself where there is no dialogue, getting it put "on top" again. It took me some time to realize what "searching" the forums really is--it is seeing if your question has already been answered somewhere.

Remember when you post a question, ask one question and state it clearly, then,if the problem is solved, mark it solved. You may then feel free to go on and ask another question. But sequential steps in fixing a problem can be pursued as long as you are getting responses, otherwise we're supposed to wait at least 24 hours to bring it up again.

Have I spoken truly?
