This is my proposal for the 8.10 Ubuntu CD label.
It is based on and emphasizes mostly the wallpaper, so if you don't like it, then it is probably not for you. The elements are a bit blended together so the text will not appear as clear as a "cleaner" design. It could have been easy to make the text stand out more but I like the visual feeling it gives. It uses the "official" design elements: The Ibex background, Ubuntu text, Ubuntu Logo and the rounded frames.
I have two labels made, both for the desktop edition, divided into i386 and amd64 versions. I decided not to deal with Kubuntu, Xubuntu and the Server for the moment.
The .xcf Gimp images weight a good 17.8MBs (the JPEGs are 475KBs). Do you want me to post them here to facilitate modifications?
Btw, they look very nice printed with a Canon Pixma iP4500, but unfortunately Canon has neither 64bit drivers for Linux (only 32bit rpm and debs) nor the CD labeling software available. Anything I can do about that?
