I am a Linux user since Redhat pre fedora days and a Ubuntu user since Warty days. However never once have I had the chance of trying out the KDE desktop. Gnome already did it all for me.
The other day I downloaded Ubuntu Ibex and did myself the favor of downloading Kubuntu as well after reading all about KDE 4.
I was in KDE for barely 2 hours and I decided to scratch it. I agree coming from Gnome can be a slight relearning, but this was too tough. The knetworkmanager did not work, configuring my network even manually was a challenge (using the Kterminal).
I think either the Ubuntu guys should NOT do KDE. (I am sure KDE is much better than my experience). They could focus all on the Gnome desktop instead of wasting time on KDE. There are patches of ubuntu brown and blue and black in the boot sequence. There is no refinement which we are used to in Ubuntu.
I would like users here to share your experiences and also let me know some good distros which can make my KDE experience like Ubuntu gives me its Gnome experience.
And please this post is not about Gnome fanboys blasting KDE with flamewars and all. I think KDE dev is a healthy project and deserves it due credit. Just that Ubuntu should not do it !!
