View Full Version : [ubuntu] Firefox menu bar shenannigans

I've encountered a problem that appears to be caused by either GNOME, Firefox, or both.

I installed Intrepid Ibex (32-bit i386) a week or so ago. I've allowed ubuntu to install all updates since then. In addition, I've installed a few software packages. Mostly graphic design apps. -nothing risky.

Now, as of a couple days ago, Firefox opens normally then quickly shifts to a view with no menu bar. Only by hitting F11 twice can I get access to the shutdown 'X-button'. It's irritating beyond a level I'm prepared to accept.

Add/remove wont let me remove firefox to try a fresh install. I can probably accomplish this using synaptic, but thought I'd try posting here first. There's nothing in Firefox prefences that corelates to this problem.

Has anyone else run into this problem? Have you found a solution short of reinstalling? Thanks.

Problem solved:
Selected 'Lock Panel Position' from the GNOME top panel.
Watched with satisfaction as Firefox struggled unsuccessfully to usurp my desktop before settling into it's intended role as a subservient application. Life is good again.

Thankyou so much! This issue has been driving me nuts!

Ok, here's a really dumb question: how do I lock the top panel?
