Hi, Im running wine 1.0.1, and gets around 70FPS in CS:S, however, I just discovered that wine 1.1.8 has been released, with some intresting improvements like:
- Memory management improvements.
And alot of D3D improvements.

So i am wondering, this release should increase my perfromace.
BUT, i memember that 1.1.7 were horrible, the perfromace sucked and the sound were horrile, i have heard that killing pulseaudio it, but does that only fix the sound?.
So my qestions are, anyone that have tried wine 1.1.8, does it work?. I have tried to compile it using sudo apt-get build-dep wine, but it cant find freetype(and yes, i have symliked, used this guide: http://wiki.winehq.org/WineOn64bit. It fails.

I am Using ubuntu 8.10 64 bit. And an overclocked AsusEN8500GT (nvidia GeForce 8500GT)

I would stick with the old saying don't fix what isn't broken :).

Is wine stable is working for you keep using it no need to upgrade =].

The performance haven't changed a lot from 1.1.7, so I think it will work just as good as 1.1.7. I've been using the 1.1.x-versions, but haven't had any performance or sound problems. But I still recommend you to stay on the 1.0.1, if it works nicely.
