Hello. I recently installed the 64-bit edition of Ubuntu 8.10. I downloaded all available updates from the update utility and installed the "restricted" Nvidia driver for my system (177, 7900 GS), rebooting as necessary. I then tried to listen to music from my iPod through Rhythmbox, which prompted me to download "gstreamer extra plugins". I did that as well. Finally, I installed the Flash plugins from the package manager and logged out for a bit. When I logged back in, my monitor's resolution reset to 1024x768. Now, I have a 19" LCD monitor with a maximum resolution of 1280x1024 @ 60Hz. What can I do to restore the maximum resolution and what changed it in the first place?
