Now i've finally downloaded the brand new Ibex and reserved some time on the weekend to come to install it on my testing machine, I learn that it's out. In just one week it went from "in" to "out".

Or so it seems if I read the blue banner atop each forum page:
Ubuntu 8.10 is out! You can find information on the new release by clicking here

Would the new release be 8.11?

:lolflag:

It is out, or are you saying that the banner should be removed?

The banner's wording is ambiguous.

It is - presumably - meant to say that the new release 8.10 just has been published.

It can be read that 8.10 is dated or outmoded and that the still newer release can be found at the place where the banner links to.

It could be read that way, but I doubt many would.

Context is everything.

In the banner "out" is obviously being used a synonym for "available".

I see it now, it does sound, if read a certain way, there is a new release and 8.10 is the old.

Given the short life of the announcement with the link going to Ubuntu 8.10, I don't think there will be issues with it though.
