Does anyone know which DVD's are best to use on Brasero?

I've recently tried to reproduce a DVD on Brasero. It copied the first disc fine and then asked me insert the blank DVD, which I did and shortly after spat it out with a message to insert a new DVD as it was unable to burn to that particular one. It burns CD's ok though.

everyone has their own choice, but if you stick to a well known brand like verbatium or the likes you cant go wrong

dvd-r seems to be the way to go though from my experience

My preference is for DVD-R over DVD+R. As has been suggested, try to stick with the well-known brands.

I read somewhere that DVD-R has slightly more capacity than DVD+R. Normally this isn't an issue for the kind of stuff I do, but I recently copied some DVDs for a family member who provided a cake-tin of DVD+R. Most of the copies went well, except one: problem evntually solved (after mucking around with several different programs which didn't like the disks, one of which reported an error in the menu structure, and others reported a capacity problem) by using a DVD-R from my own supply.

I have read over at cdfreaks not to use the latest Verbatim Dvd-r but instead Verbatim Dvd+r something about Verbatim using a different process and inferior media for their Dvd-r discs.
So thats what i use now.
But in general the best Dvd media is either Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden.
After that comes discs from Prodisc (these are branded discs from Kodak, Imitation, TDK etc) and finally RIdata's Ritek (depending on which brand of Ritek expect 20 to 60% coasters when burning) discs.
Anything after those are the coaster city branded discs, discs that come from Memorex etc and are completely worthless.

Just do not ever use the fastest speed a particular disk supports and it should work o.k. I get about 2 bad disks in 100 and always use the brand I get cheapest.

Interesting, because I had all sorts of problems with DVD-R and switching to DVD+R seemed to resolve them.

you know I burn both plus dl haven't had major issues either way, sometimes if I buy the really cheep ones their are a number of failures. ... other than that it's been okay.

depends on software, hardware, media. There are no specifics which make it work. Also, if you plan on playing these in a car stereo system like mp3 cd's, your car deck depends on your hardware. When I was using windows, it was a problem and this is the same with linux. It is a hit or miss.
