ok my friend bought a new laptop, DELL Inspiron 1525 T8300 Core 2 Duo 2.4GH.

i tried to install several versions of ubuntu on it; 8.04 using a pre-ordered Live CD and 8.10 using a burnt iso on a CD and on a flash memory using the new awsome tool which worked perfect on my pc and other laptops.

anyway, everything works perfect untill 94% of the setup and it gives me a fatal error when installing the grub bootloader.

he has vista and xp both pre-installed on his laptop. we tried turning off the S-SATA even though w know its irrelevant but just in case...

could having both xp and vista loaded onto his vista bootloader be the problem?

any ideas?

thnx in advance :D

Having the Ubuntu installer fail at 94% with a fatal grub error is unfortunately a known bug, but the good news is there are usually at least a few workarounds, including:

Give that a shot and let me know how it goes. :)
