Hi, I am Canadian and would love to watch some of the full length television episodes available from US broadcaster websites. However when I click to watch the streaming video it says that you may only view the videos from within the United States (apparently they check if your IP address is American). I was thinking about getting a cheap VPS server based in the US, thus having a US IP address, and somehow using it to relay the stream to me so that I can watch it.

How could you possibly pipe the video stream (both video AND sound)?

I'm thinking about getting the cheap server from vpslink.com to accomplish this, though I'm open to using another provider if someone can suggest a cheaper alternative.

I'm not a linux expert, but I've been using Ubuntu for years now, and am familiar with working SSH and working in terminal mode. Therefor I am not scared off by doing some minor console hacking, though I'm not clever enough to figure things out on my own yet, thus specific commands would be appreciated.

Thank in advance for any help on this matter from anyone. I'm sure that others might find this thread useful too.

I just found this link from my additional research and am offering it as a potential solution. I haven't tried it yet myself, but the info seems good. I'll try it from within a Windows VMware app.

The above idea that I've posted above sort of works, but it sucks.

I'm still looking for any good suggestions. Thanks.
