I've dabbled w/ Arch here and there, and was curious if anyone has installed it on one of the new Dell Inspiron Minis? I'll be getting mine today and will be looking for the most robust, yet light distro out there(hence here I am). The default Ubuntu installation has a limited kernel(RAM) and to be honest I think Ubuntu is slightly chunky. =x

I'm a pretty knowledgeable guy regarding Debian/Ubuntu and other than a couple of Arch installs in Virtualbox have very little knowledge or Arch. Was curious what you guy's thought are of my chances of getting a system up & running a/ all the bells and whistles including hibernate/suspending on this lil machine?

I'm going back and reading the Arch Beginner's Guide now along w/ browsing the Arch forums for anything I can think of that may be of use. Hoping to get something installed sometime this weekend. Thanks for any info/advice you can toss my way. =]

Curious as well. You'd certainly want to have the correct Xorg keymapping from the Ubuntu version of Dell. The wireless, the webcam, and the solid state drives might cause headaches as well.

If I buy it, I think I'll get the Ubuntu version of it, and study it before going for another linux install. Although these things tend to resolve themselves quite quickly - I bet that there will be an install guide for ARCH and Dell mini 9 online within a month from now... keep an eye on the Arch forums!
