I was just wondering how quickly the repositories are updated after a new version of an OSS program comes out?

I fancy trying out Firefox 1.5, but I'd rather use Synaptic than do it manually.
Anyone have any ideas when it might be included?

Cheers.

It won't be included in the main repositories. Ubuntu won't provide updates to applications except security updates. It will be backported though; see the Ubuntu Backports forum for details.

Firefox 1.5 probably won't be included in backports until it hits the dapper repos. Ubuntu has a policy of keeping Firefox up to date but I don't know if that applies to 1.5..... anyone else?

I'm using 1.5 using the method descrobed at the link below. It's very easy to follow.

Excellent. I'll check it out. Thanks for your help.

I'll probably end up installing it 'manually' using the article I found here - http://lxer.com/module/newswire/view/45917/index.html
