I was wondering if anyone else has seen this. I am using ubuntu 8.04 as my file server for a network that includes a second 8.04, XP and OS X. I have several folder shared out from the Ubuntu F/S. I'm using the Samba Server configuration Tool 1.2.50 to manage the shares and I basically set the permissions to 777. (yeah, I know, I'll tighten it down later).

The problem is that every once in a while, no one can access the shares. Attempts to remount give errors. I have to go in and reset the permissions on the file server. Then I can mount the drives and everyone is happy again.

It's like something resets the permissions to something more secure.

Has anyone seen this?
