I have the same, but after upgrading from 8.04 to 8.10 I cannot connect to my home network. Only after clicking on 'Connect to Hidden Network' he 'sees' my network and I can connect. Suddenly he also sees other networks. Under 8.04 everything worked out of the box...

I wasn't able to make it work properly. I can see the network, however after a couple of minutes the connection drops out. My connection works properly in vista though. :( You may also want to check out this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=6142667#post6142667
