webcam help

hello friends ..
I am getting problem with my webcam

I want to take pictures and record videos with my webcam bt I don't know the proper softwere(application) for it . I am able to view my webcam from SKYPE bt I want to take picture and record vidz that the SKYPE does't do :(


My laptop is HP pavillion dv51004tu

i believe xawtv and gqcam are both applications that can do this. they should both be in the repos so fire up Synaptic and search for them
