Man you asked a ton of questions in one thread which in my experience decreases your chances of getting and answer.

1. Yes myth can do it with an ir blaster, serial cable, or firewire depending on your STB

2. Plenty. I use a rumblepad for my PSX, NES, and SNES emulation needs. There is a mythgame section to the myth wiki

3. You can rip cds and dvds. not sure what you mean by using a hardware encoder for ripping... You can transcode to most any container/codec you like...

4. plenty of bittorrent clients you can use, safe could mean a lot of things so I'm not sure how to comment on that one.

5. don't use chat clients, so I don't know

6. I do this with caller ID. I used the elseed code (with some modifications) that was written for Tivos to read in caller ID information from an external hardware modem. So any of my computers can subscribe to caller ID on screen with a YAC client.

7. Probably - try out a few different bittorrent clients.

8. I have no idea

9. Yes

10. Yes probably, but I don't know what all that would entail

11. In linux in general or in myth? I imagine so in Linux, don't know about a myth plugin.

12. what happened to 12?

13. With enough hacking, anything is possible :)
