[SOLVED] tuner 1 not available

Hi,
I´m a newbie at linux and mythbuntu.

Since an update to new cannel frequenzes I have problems with live-tv. It isn´t working since that:
- deleted the tv-card
- deleted the videosources
- configered both new
- channelsearch worked well
- everything looked well in backendsetup

But now in frontend watching tv isn´t working. after klick on watch-tv there is a short flash an then i see the menu again - no tv.

With Kaffeine everything works well - so I think it´s a problem with mythbuntu.

has anyone an idea where the problem is? i´m totaly lost.

Hi,

Do you see anything interesting in the backend log file (/var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log).

I've written a small script that checks the mythtv configuration. Maybe it'll help you find the problem.

To get/use the script just go to the terminal and type.

mv CheckMythDB.txt CheckMythDB.pl
chmod +x CheckMythDB.pl
CheckMythDB.pl -a

Hi,

I'm not sure whats the problem.

Do you see anything in your backend.log file (/var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log).

The card should work, I have 2 DVB-C cards in my backend one's a Satelco EasyWatch DVB-C and it just works.
The only thing I did was to extend the tuning delay abit in mythtv-setup.

Hi,

I´ve no idea where the problem is. For me the backend.log looks normal. But I´m not an expert in it.

Is there somewhere else a config file for the tuner? Is it possible i did something wrong when I deleted my tuner-card before I made the new configuration?

Are you running a seperate frontend/backend? try setting both the backend and sql IP address to the same system as your backend.

Hi,

First run mythtv-setup and set the IP addresses for your backend and the SQL server to 127.0.0.1 then in mythfrontend set the backend address and sql server also to 127.0.0.1.

Sorry I can't be more specific at the moment. I don't have access to my myth system at the moment.

I changed the IPs but now I have some other strange things. It looks like there is a problem with mythfilldb. Live TV is not working.

now it looks better. the connection to the masterbackend looks good. For me it seems there is a problem with mythfilldatabase. if I understand it right there is now capture card saved in the database. but why not? I have configured it.

Hi,

Could it be that your host name is changing?

Try going into mythtv-setup, delete all your tuners. Save and exit. tun setup again and add your cards again and link them back to the video sources.

Then maybe run my script and check that all your tuners are there.

I updated the tuner card and linked it to the videosources. I did it three times, but live tv is not working. Here is what I see with your script. Evwerything looks normal from my opinion:

It looks like there are two cards installed in the database. But I have only one card in my computer. In the setup-menu I can not find a second dvb-card to delete.

Some ideas?

I solved the problem :P :
- somehow I defined in the backend-setup a special name for the frontend, when I changed the channel configuration. After that I always got the message in the frontend "Tuner 1 not available". In the backend the tuner was detected right and the channelscan worked. But watching LiveTV at the frontend wasn´t possible.
- everytime I deleted the tunercard and add it up again, this tunercard was registered in the myth-database for the new frontend-name. The problem was, that the tuner was installed at the backend
- I deleted the special name for the frontend, added the tuner again and now the tuner is available at the frontend and working correctly.

Can someone tell me, why the tuner was registered for the new frontend-name (Frontend and backend are running on the same machine)? Can someone explain me, how the configuration of mythbuntu backend, frontend and database works? Would be interesting.
