Hi all
This is a newbie question ... sorry!
I brought my old Vaio laptop back to life with Ubuntu. It is simply great.
The PCMCIA slot did not work under Windows. So I used a Belkin USB Wireless connector instead of a PCMCIA card. It works fine technically, but it is big/clumsy, external to the laptop and constantly physically jumps out of the USB port, obviously causing a disconnect.
I want to see if my PCMCIA slot works ok under Ubuntu. So I stuck a Belkin PCMCIA Wirelass card in. I do not have a linux driver, but I believe that I can use NDIS wrapper to package and apply a windows one, according to the help. The help says to load ndisgtk (Windows Wireless Drivers) and select "System > Administration > Install Wireless Drivers" But the option cited is not on my (8.10) System > Admin menu.
So two questions, please
Does anybody know how I can exercise/Test the slot?
Can anybody tell me where I can find the missing menu option please?
John
