Ubuntu 8.10 and dell d600

ok so i had troble with ubuntu 8.4 with the desktop effects not working so i went back to windows....i have one question... have they resovled that problem?:confused:

Sorry, haven't upgraded to 8.10 yet, so I can't say.

However, I was able to get desktop effects working in 8.04.
Unfortunately, I can't recall exactly what file was edited - but I do recall it was one entry and it was very easy.

I have a D600, and desktop effects work, just not at the high video resolution your probably running. With my D600 (standard Video) the resolution has to drop to a resolution lower than I am willing to run to get the effects due to the low memory on the video card.

Not an Ubuntu problem, the video card is just weak.

Did you ever get wireless to work in linux on the d600? I never could. Desktop effects I could not access because no networking was available.
