Ubuntu 8.10 64-bit
Dell 1525
After upgrading to 8.10, the brightness meter doesn't reflect the current brightness level; the level always stays at the maximum position.
However, in Guest mode, the brightness meter updates fine.
Any clue what could be causing this??

In my case (DELL Vostro 1400, I965) 8.04 uses correct current brightness level but 8.10 does use the maximum level every login (I can to change the brightness by Fn+Up/Down but the maximum brightness is boring really). If anybody knows how to resolve this issue let me know, please.
