I have an Aspire laptop with its own power supply. I also have an old power supply from an old Compaq laptop. but they have slightly deferent ratings, does anyone know if I can use the old (Compaq) power supply on the Acer if needed.

The Aspire supply says
Input 100-240v ~ 1.6A 50-60Hz
Output 19v = 3.4A

The Compaq supply says
Input 100-240v ~ 1.3A 50-60Hz
Output 18.5v = 2.7A

half a volt won't make a difference, the compaq has less power output- may not be enough. Also check polarity is correct

Thanks - The polarity is correct I was worried it might damage my Laptop but some times I leave my own supply at the office.

most likely you will kill power supply if it's overloaded-recommend you don't try plugging in loads of usb devices and running dvd drive if you try this supply
