My current one (http://support.gateway.com/s/MOTHERBD/Shared/4006272R/4006272Rnv.shtml) sucks in my opinion. It has an ATI HD 3200 card integrated to it according to the AMD website. I'd like a better video card of course but... I don't know if any motherboards will match up to my box (http://support.gateway.com/s/CASES/3507204R/3507204Rnv.shtml) and front I/O Assembly (http://support.gateway.com/s/CASES/shared/8017399R/8017399Rnv.shtml).

I'd prefer NVIDIA of course.

I have always had good luck Here (http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=22&name=AMD-Motherboards)

780G is actually a good chipset.

Not with the crappy graphics it has if you ask me. I'd rather have a better processor too, but I know getting a new motherboard won't really fix either.

I guess I'll just have to wait until ATI decides to release Catalyst 8.11 and see if it works with xorg 7.4. But by then, I'm sure 9.04 will be out and that uses xorg 7.5 I believe. *sighs* I should never have bought this computer, even though it is good for Windows, just not linux.

Are you running Intrepid? Intrepid has working Catalyst for Xorg 7.4. And the open source drivers are coming along nicely.

Compiz lags a lot though, thanks to Firefox pushing xorg to 70% CPU.

Well if you're "in" for a new motherboard and video card, why not just go all the way and drop a few bucks on a standard ATX tower as well?

Look around on NewEgg; you don't have to spend much for something decent, and if you get one you can live with, they last through as many upgrade cycles as you want them to.

Not with only 142 dollars of spending money for November. Plus, my grandma will be pissed when I do, since she was the one who bought me this a few months earlier because I was whining for a new computer. *sighs* I told her I should wait, but she didn't want to.

I'm actually in the market myself. Anyone tried an Asus board with expressgate yet? What are your thoughts?
