I have recently installed Ubuntu 8.10 on my macbook. Everything went great. The problem is switching between Ubuntu and OSX. The default OS is OS X and when I press and hold the "option" key at startup, it only sees the Mac OS X. Therefor, how do I boot to Ubuntu? Is there a program that I can install on the OS X to give me an option when booting.
I tried installing rEFIt on the OS X, but nothing happened. It still booted to OS X and gave me no options for ubuntu. any help would be great.
I have a Macbook 3.1 running OS X (although you probably knew that already) :)

You need to sync the partitions. Please check the FAQ. It is linked at the top of the forum:

rEFIt is needed to sync the partitions. If it is not showing on bootup, then it did not install correctly and you probably need to use the manual installation option.
