View Full Version : [ubuntu] Intrepid Ibex Black Screen of Death after installing through update manager...

Update manager managed to get pastes "cleaning" after an hour and a half, and it asked for a reboot.

It went through the splashscreen and after the ubuntu splash, it stayed on a black screen with white text (the familiar ones with "[ok]" after everything). The screen blinked twice or thrice and stayed on that black screen. I can type (possibly commands?), but it stays on that black screen until I press the power button on the hardware.

I'm assuming that it fails to start X (probably the blinking part), but I am left without even a login screen or a traditional command prompt (with the "#:").

Are there any solutions to fix this WITHOUT a doing a clean install and erasing all my data?

[Luckily I dual-boot with Vista on my setup. Can't imagine those who don't have any other alternatives.]

Same problem here.. It's a 32bits install.

Thank god there was an Intrepid Beta still installed on another partition..
