i want to know how i can run my internal graphics card and such on my computer. it is a dell inspiron 8500 if that helps and i really want to start using ubuntu full time because xp always messes up for me.

unfortunatly your xp drivers will not work with linux, that said dell support ubuntu.
Nvidia support linux so getting your graphics card working should be relatively straight forward.
Hopefully we can point you to Dell ubuntu iso- if you decide to install ubuntu
