Hello,

Can there be a top level "general application support", which is associated with apps rather than the desktop environment? Things posted on gnome's desktop support are far more likely to be answered than in kde's one...It would be better to have a general application support section which is kubuntu/ubuntu agnostic. Or, better yet, there would only be one set of forums encompassing both distros.

Are you a KDE user? It use to be that way and the perception was that KDE users were short-changed.

I suppose if we had just one big forum then we wouldn't have to worry about things being posted in the wrong place. :p

I am indeed a KDE user ... I often post into the Gnome forum rather than the KDE one on general apps questions, since my perception is that, like I said, I'm more likely to get an answer there. (So I'm guilty of perpetuating the problem, true!) :)

I think it'd be cool to mix it up...perhaps there could be KDE/Gnome icons that people could choose to apply to their posts if they wanted? Or tags. Whatever.

i agree, the forum structure can be better done, maybe:

hardware
installation
networking
laptops
etc
software
general apps
windows programs
development
etc

there is a lot of overlap, especially networking/laptop support, beginner talk/gnome, you just don't know where to post
