Should I have downloaded this program named "ClamTk Virus Scanner"? At the start it came up in a popup window that the signatures were 15 days old, and sounded like a "Yelp!" through my speekers. It said in Add/Remove that it wasn't officialy supported.

I don't think you've got a problem. You've simply downloaded a virus scanner for Ubuntu (from the repos, I assume).
Usually, virus scanners for Linux systems are used on Linux mail servers potentially sending mail to Windows machines. Currently there are no known Linux viruses in the wild.

Really? I've never heard of that...
Maybe Ubuntu still isn't as secure as we think it is, huh? Maybe OpenBSD will fare better...

It's on Intrepid Ibex (final release). Goto Applicatons -} Add/Remove -} select All Available Applications and search for "Virus Scanner". The programs name in add/remove is virus scanner, but it's real name is ClamTk Virus Scanner. One of my relatives programs FreeBSD. it's actualy pretty good, but somehow, I prefer Ubuntu.
