Ubuntu Alternate CD ?

Hi all,
first time posting so here goes

what is or were do i go to get the Ubuntu Alternate CD i have the one i ordered off the internet but i am trying to install
lts and the desktop and cant do it with standered installion
of the server

For Hardy go here (http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download)and tick checkbox at bottom that says

"Check here if you need the alternate desktop CD. This CD does not include the Live CD, instead it uses a text-based installer."

so it is the desktop cd iso i mean the server uses the desktop cd to install all of these additions? I'm sorry i am just new to ubuntu and linux too. :)

The Desktop and Server cd's are seperate.

The Desktop can come either as a Live CD which you can try before installing, or as the Alternate CD which is used mostly for more advanced installs.

The Server CD does not install a Graphical User Interface(GUI), but once installed it is possible to install a GUI through the use of commands.

so the Desktop version cd is to install the desktop version and serves as the Alternate CD for the server ? :guitar:

on this page at the top it has desktop and server and a box by each one do i check the desktop or server checkbox and then at the bottom check the tick checkbox

If you do that you should get all three CDs, The Live Desktop CD, the Alternate Installation CD and the Server Installation CD.
