I have an IBM thinkpad with 128 mb ram and a 363 mhz processor. what would be a good linux distro for this.

you could also try the alternate install iso for xubuntu. the liveCD wouldnt work with those specs but i've installed xubuntu on similar machines and have gotten it to work fairly well.

antiX is another good choice, and if you try Sidux XFCE edition and then get rid of XFCE and kdm in favor of, say, dwm and SLiM, you'll have a nice setup.

i prefer puppy linux for older computers.

slackware would work too.

the whole idea is that you can use whatver distribution you would like. The key to lightweight operation is using a window manager instead of a desktop environment.
fluxbox, blackbox, jwm, lwm, icewm... just to name a few.

Wow...xubuntu was a lot slower then I expected much too slow to use. Thanks for the tip though.

Xubuntu is quite chubby for an Xfce distro. I would recommend SliTaz or AntiX.
