Im going back to Windows. Linux has no support for anything these days and flash sucks on youtube and other flash sites. On windows xp flash runs perfectly. Linux is also a pain. They should just make one universal installer than have .rpms .debs and tar.gzs. On windows there is only one .exe. last thing dependencies are annoying too.

Bye Linux and goodbye ubuntu

Linux has support for a lot. Many things do not support Linux though. Flash issues are the fault of Adobe, as they make Flash. However, I don't have Flash issues and routinely watch videos on youtube (I use Opera and Flash 10, in case you are wondering).

Um...

XP is 7 years old. Windows doesn't have a universal installer and is more fractured than Linux. Ubuntu has repositories that Just Work. Also Windows installers are not .exe, but .msi. See? On Windows, you can use .tar.gz's as well.

Dependencies are annoying in Windows more. Ever have a missing .dll? In Ubuntu, the package manager takes care of all that.

i would say that this is a very good review about common linux problems (the major ones that is) with new users.

Happy virus collecting.... JK. Well sorry for you luck. It can get annoying but once you know what you are doing it is easy to install those packages. Also, RPM files are for Red Hat. They are not made for Ubuntu. DEB is for ubuntu an Tar files are source packages for any linux system.

Now that is flamebait ;)

Saying you "hate Linux" on a Linux board while showing ignorance of Linux in your posts is flamebait.

If you don't want to use Linux, then don't. I don't feel a need to go on BSD, Solaris, Windows and OS X forums and tell them why I don't use their software, why do you?

If you wish to give a testimonial, use the appropriate forum. If you want technical support, do so in the technical forums. This thread seems to be designed to be a grand send off and justify your "hatred" by provoking spirited responses.

Thanks for letting us know!

Windows is better at running viruses, worms, leaving ports open, product activation, using memory, and the legendary bit rot.

BTW Linux has no support means: desktops, laptops, phones, routers, super computers with hardware support superior to XP and Vista, as it can handle older hardware too.

Flash sucks on youtube? Adobe flash can play it. Swfdec can play it, and gnash too. The latter offer 64-bit versions, Adobe doesn't. This is clearly Linux's fault, right?

Yes, one installer. It's so much better to grab files off the web than use the repositories. Although, I'd love it if they standardized on deb. P.S. BTW equate tar.gz with a zipped file. Seriously, it's a format that has been supported for decades... Or do Windows users not download zips anymore?

On Windows dependencies are annoying, it's called DLL hell. Luckily there are package managers that can do dependency resolution.

Anyway, good bye mysterious user with so few posts!
Have fun with Windows. XP is 8 years old nearly. vista will be replaced by Windows 7 within two years. Have fun with the upgrade treadmill and software costs. And the draconian activation policies.

Windows has one universal installer? Since when? .exe is used for all executables, not just installers, so that doesn't really fit. And you forgot about the existence of .msi installers.

I can understand what you are saying. There have been several times I was ready to give it up but was able to work through the issues. Most of those have been with 64 bit, however.

Ubuntu has basically worked with very few problems.

Enjoy the view from your windows.

It's really unintuitive. For some reason, shared documents are inside My Documents. And all the software is arranged by company. How should I know what company made whatever graphics program is on the computer? Why isn't there just a graphics category? And why do I have to look all over the internet to find more software, then click Next like 10 times? Why do those installers ask so many questions? What's with all these popups? And what's with having all these weird scanning apps running all the time slowing the machine down? It's such a waste of cycles.

Actually i use x64 and i never had major issues. flash runs great, music plays better than windows, videos play great, if that user has been using linux since 06, then obviously he is technologically handicaped. Is funny though, you make a thread in ubuntuforum sayin "im goin back to windows linux suxks" and you get no hate. ONly well tought opinions and clever remarks like laroza's and macogw's. Windows is unintuitive. Well, this kind of users we won't miss. have fun, bear dude. and don't worry, be a stranger. we won't be mad- ;)

Hmm, it was not closed when I found it, but it is now.

This thread is going nowhere, lets not feed the trolls. Linux is not for everyone, so if they prefer windows, just let it go ;)

Yeah, I felt bad for posting and closing, so I reopened and moved to Recurring.

OP is not going to be responding (really), so closing is the best thing to do for real.
