Virtual box not booting windows

I recently upgrade my ubuntu kernal from -19 to -21. after doing so virtual box (sun microsystems) stoped booting my windows virtual machine. Windows begains to boot but never gets as far as the log in screen. Is there a way to save my virtual machine? I have CAD software that i would like to recover.

I'm not sure, but you can save your data by booting up an ubuntu livecd in the system and mounting the partition then putting the files somewhere else...
